ABOUT

JEANET INGWERSEN

I am Jeanet and I am a potter based in County Durham where my handmade pottery is made in my little garden studio. I was born in Denmark and grew up in Norway from the age of seven. I came to the UK in 1995 to go to university and I've been here ever since.

My ceramic journey started when I was a child, messing around with clay. A few years ago I did a local wheel throwing course and things got serious. I loved making pots on the wheel and was immediately addicted. Since then, I have been making ceramics as a hobby and have recently (2022) started up as a small business.

My pots are inspired by my background in Denmark and Norway. I like to think that my work has the clean, simple, practical and yet elegant style typically seen in Scandinavian design. Each pot is unique in it's own way and I always have the Scandi hygge in mind when I’m at the wheel.

It has been a very exciting 2022 and 2023 is set to be even more so. As well as making the decision to make a hobby into a business, I was featured as one of the makers on Dom Chinea's new BBC series Make It At Market. My mentor was none other than Florian Gadsby and it has been the most amazing experience. I am in episode 13 should you wish to check it out on iPlayer.
